Candidates' Smiles Need Help!

Candidates' Smiles Need Help!

By Alexandra S. George, DDS, LVIF

With the upcoming presidential election constantly on our minds, headaches seem to develop more frequently. Who stands for what? Who said what? Who is honest? Who will do the best job for our country? I will leave all the questions for you to decide.

When I see the candidates on the news or in the debates, I can't help but look at their smile, their posture and facial symmetry. It's a curse of my dental expertise, neuromuscular dentistry.

Here is my comparison of a few of the candidates.

I'll start with ladies first (or is it ex-first-ladies?) Hillary Clinton.

Has anyone noticed that her front crowns don't match? She has worn her lower teeth down, indicative of grinding. She probably suffers from headaches too, due to the way her jaw is misaligned (among other reasons).

    Let's look at Donald Trump.

donald-trump-talkingDonaldTrumpThis is an odd one (and I'm talking smiles only). We can all agree he has crowns but something is not quite right. When he talks he shows mostly lower teeth. His teeth proportions can stand a change; and he probably would not look like he is mad all the time!

How about Bernie Sanders? Bernie Sanders SmilingBernie-SandersBernie, Bernie, Bernie!  What can I say? Your smile needs help! Crowns don't match, your teeth are worn down and we only see your bottom teeth when you speak. But, I'm concerned about how you hold your head forward. Neck issues? Sleep issues? Straightening up your jaw balance may just straighten you up and help you rest better.

Okay, now Ted Cruz.

I can’t even see his teeth to really discuss them. Does he even have teeth in there? That tells me he needs a dental consultation.

By performing a smile analysis on these candidates, I can say with confidence that they ALL need to improve their smiles.
